Mausoleum, Taj Mahal

A mausoleum is a grand, free-standing architectural monument constructed to enclose the interment space or burial chamber of a deceased person or prominent family. The term originates from the magnificent Tomb of Mausolus—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World—and is used today to describe any impressive, above-ground resting place built to honor and memorialize the dead.
