Hohensalzburg Fortress
Hohensalzburg Fortress, sitting atop the Festungsberg hill, is one of the largest and best-preserved medieval castles in Europe, with construction dating back to 1077. Originally built to protect the city’s powerful Prince-Archbishops, the fortress was never successfully captured by enemy forces throughout its history.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era who was born and raised in Salzburg. His birthplace on Getreidegasse and his former family residence are now major museums.
