The Palace of the Popes (French: Palais des Papes) in Avignon, southern France, is one of the largest and most important medieval Gothic buildings in Europe. Serving as both a fortress and a luxurious residence, it was the seat of Western Christianity during the 14th century.

Pont Saint-Bénézet
The Pont Saint-Bénézet, also known as the Pont d’Avignon, is a famous medieval bridge spanning the Rhône river. Originally constructed between 1177 and 1185, legend attributes its creation to a young shepherd named Bénézet, who claimed divine inspiration to build a bridge across the turbulent river.
